Letterkenny Accommodation - Donegal Golf Courses

With a central location in Donegal, Letterkenny is the ideal accommodation base for playing the great links courses in the North West of Ireland

Golf Club

2 km

Letterkenny Golf Club is located just 2 km to the East of Letterkenny. With 18 holes, it's a beautiful 6,239 yards parkland course and offers panoramic views of  Lough Swilly

Ballybofey and Stranorlar

13 miles

Ballybofey and Stranorlar  is regarded as one of the unsung heroes of all Ulster's wonderful golf courses. It is not an overly long parkland course as it sits at just under 5, 500 yards but it poses a threat to the unwitting golfer

North West Golf Club, Lisfannon

17 miles

The course lies between the picturesque Moldy Mountains and the Sea. The surrounding scenery is magnificent. The holes are very varied with many sandy knocks and pleasant undulations but the general tendency is flattish. The Greens are second to none. It provides pleasant Winter Golf.

Portsalon Golf Club

Watching the sun rise over and then playing this truly great links is a memory that will be cherished forever. Pat Ruddy has updated this once very good, and now premier league golf links. Portsalon is beautifully situated by the shores of Ballymastocker Bay.

A holiday seaside links with stunning views and a number of very good links holes

Rosapenna -
Old Tom Morris

This course was laid out by Old Tom Morris in the late 19th century and provides 10 classic links holes before moving to high meadow with superb views of the surrounding area.

Rosapenna - Sandy hills

Where Old Tom Morris designed the Old course nearly 100 years ago between the dunes and the sea, Ruddy has created an 18-hole wonder that runs right through the dunes. The ball must be on the fairway at all costs and the traditional links bump and run is not an option to these elevated and protected greens

Donegal Golf Club (Murvagh)

This massive links, over 7,300 yards from the championship tees, is isolated from the outside world by a forest on one side and the waters of Donegal Bay and the Atlantic ocean on all others. It presents a fine golfing test and there are numerous memorable holes.

Ballyliffin Golf Club - Old Course

37 miles(59km)

Ballyliffin golf club boasts 36 magnificent links holes in the far north of the Inishowen peninsula. The Old Course is a traditional links golf at its best - fast running, undulating fairways providing unpredictable bounce and large undulating greens offering the chance to master the 'bump and run' approach.

Ballyliffin Golf Club - Glashedy

37 miles(59km)

Another Pat Ruddy design, the Glashedy golf links at Ballyliffin Golf Club simply another great links golf course. It provides an excellent contrast between traditional (Old Course) and newer links designs - and Glashedy is definitely tougher. Course management is at a premium here, with stiff penalties for poor shotmaking

Royal Portrush

57 miles(92km)

This famous golf club in North West Ireland was founded in 1888. It is overlooked by the 13th century Dunluce Castle, and the championship course is named after this ruin. It is complimented with another course, the Valley, that is less demanding but full-length. This club is the only club in Ireland and Northern Ireland to have hosted the British Open, and is on many peoples short list of top Irish courses to visit.
